In early August of 2021, a woman and her mother reached a settlement with the City of Beverly Hills over traffic accident injuries. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, courts across the country delayed personal injury lawsuits out of health and safety concerns. This settlement marks one of the few notable legal decisions in the Southern California auto accident lawsuit landscape within recent months.

The Details of the Auto Accident

According to the plaintiffs, Farnaz Vojdani and her mother, Soror Azizgolshani, were driving a vehicle through Beverly Hills on the evening of August 19, 2017. At approximately 9:00 p.m., on-duty Police Officer Alfredo Eudave’s police vehicle struck the front of her car. As a result, Vojdani suffered head, neck, and back injuries. Her mother, who occupied the front passenger seat at the time, suffered injuries to her neck, left shoulder, and right knee. In the time since the accident, Azizgolshani has also suffered a brain hemorrhage and worsening dementia symptoms.

The Lawsuit Against the City of Beverly Hills

The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against the City of Beverly Hills in June 2018, hoping to recover compensation to cover their medical bills and other costs associated with the traffic collision injuries they suffered. The case moved to trial, but the attorneys announced that a settlement had been reached between the parties before the trial concluded. The City of Beverly Hills admitted liability and agreed to a settlement with the plaintiffs. So far, the terms of the settlement have not been announced.
